HIKING NEW ZEALAND WITH DAN SADGROVE

by Lee Litumbe in Featured Travels

As part of our Frequent Flyer series, we post follow up stories from previously spotlighted travelers. Dan is a visual researcher working in film and television who considers himself a slow traveler (he’s been on the road for over 18 months now). In his previous post, Dan shared about his time exploring Sierra Leone, though the extensive list of countries he’s visited range from Tanzania, Malaysia, The States, Jordan, Indonesia, and everything in between. Today he shares about his experiences being a tourist in his home country of New Zealand and the importance of appreciating nature’s endless beauty.

This trip was no homecoming - I treated this visit like a tourist would so I moved down to Wanaka, a little lake side town near Queenstown in the South Island and went from there. Wanaka is a more local, less touristy destination than Queenstown - which is famous for being the adventure capital of the world.

As part of our Frequent Flyer series, we post follow up stories from previously spotlighted travelers. My husband Andrew and I travelled to Kyrgyzstan back in 2011 as part of a four month trip travelling along the Silk Road and throughout the Middle East.

by Lee Litumbe in Featured Travels

As part of our Frequent Flyer series, we post follow up stories from previously spotlighted travelers. Scott is a Respiratory Therapist based in Metro Atlanta, GA that has traveled the world extensively with an affinity for visiting countries with vivid cultures like India and Namibia. In his previous feature, he shared his experiences traveling overland throughout Namibia, camping out in the wilderness, and bungee jumping in the city of Swakopmund. Now he's back to shed light on his recent experiences traveling in Egypt post revolution and why he thinks now is the best time to visit the country.

Ever since I could remember learning about the pyramids, I knew someday I wanted to visit Egypt. My plan to travel to Egypt were initially halted when the 2011 revolution occurred and the country was deemed unsafe. However, 4years later, my curiosity for such an adventure overshadowed any doubts to whether it was the right time to go. Luckily for me, the timing proved to be spot on.
