PURA VIDA

by Lee Litumbe in My Travels

When trying to decide on any new travel destination, a major part of my final decision is based on what kinds of activities are available in the area. Laying out on the beach is really great, but after about an hour it can get pretty boring. Whether it's trying new foods, doing something daring, or just allowing myself to get lost in a new place, I tend to be much more interested in absorbing the culture of a place than absorbing sun rays. So when preparing for this particular trip I was very happy to learn Costa Rica is famous for its adrenaline inducing activities.

MUMBAI BY SANA JAVERI KADRI

by Lee Litumbe in Local Experts

My name is Sana Javeri Kadri, a photographer, maker, and all round wide-eyed young person. I grew up in Mumbai, India and took it entirely for granted. When I first moved away in 2010 I couldn’t wait to get as far from the monotonous drill of the city and the well-worn confines of my childhood as humanly possible. So I tiramisu-ed my way through Italy and ate my way to the glorious state of California. Sure enough, once the heady rush of the outside world had died down and all that pasta started to digest, I could feel a steady ache for my motherland begin to grow.

CAMBODIA & VIETNAM BY JOHNNY PANESSA

by Lee Litumbe in Featured Travels

I’m Johnny Panessa from Bushwick, Brooklyn and I make toys, packaging, and take photos for a living. I first found photography through skateboarding after I started using a camera to have photographic evidence of skateboard tricks and places of when I would travel to skateboard. Skateboarding and the movie Baraka by Ron Fricke sparked my initial urge to travel. I really started recording every travel journey with the imagery in Baraka in mind; I was after that quiet subtlety Baraka captures so effortlessly.

MIAMI BY VANESSA GRANDA

by Lee Litumbe in Local Experts

I'm Vanessa Granda, a Visual Arts Major raised & currently living in Miami, Florida. You can say my interest in photography developed organically, starting with my fondness for documentation. I decided one day that I wanted photographs to coincide with my writings about the moments, people, and experiences in my life. So, I went out and bought my first camera and the rest is history.

ISRAEL & PALESTINE BY JESSICA F. COBBS

by Lee Litumbe in Featured Travels

I'm Jessica and I currently live in Chicago, Illinois. My interest in traveling to Israel originally piqued in 2010, when a close friend returned from a Birthright sponsored trip to the region and raved about her experiences. Three and a half years later, I’d found a steal of a deal that I could not pass up - roundtrip airfare from Chicago to Tel Aviv for 700 dollars.
