CHASING WATERFALLS

by Lee Litumbe in My Travels

During my recent trip to Costa Rica (see here for full recap) I had the opportunity to spend the day swimming at the base of the most incredible waterfall I have ever seen in person. After a 30-minute horseback ride and a 20-minute hike which led us to an insanely impressive hanging bridge, my friends and I finally arrived at the wonder that is known as the La Fortuna Waterfall deep in the middle of the forest.

I feel especially blessed to have been in the presence of such a powerful yet beautiful natural force, because it reminds me how insignificant the problems I think I have are in the grand scheme of things.

PS - I'm completely aware it was probably entirely too easy (and a bit corny I suppose) to quote TLC in the blog title, but what can I say? I just couldn't help myself.

After leaving Dune 45 behind, I was restless with anticipation. Having seen an endless amount of fascinating photos online, I knew our next destination held the promise of being the most surreal and bizarre landscape I would have the good fortune to witness during my trip.

Since returning from my travels through Namibia with my sister (read full recaps here and here), I must confess I've been more than a little anxious. Anxious because I've been unsure whether any words I use to describe my experience would do the staggering beauty that exists within the country any justice.

I'm frequently asked how I'm able to travel as (relatively) often as I do. Am I well-off? Do I get sponsorship? Do I have a Sugar Daddy? The answers to all of those questions are no, no, and hell no.
